Sarah Jessica Parker’s Manolo Blahnik Collaboration
7 AugSarah Jessica Parker talked (in Harper’s Bazaar’s big September issue) all about her fashion career with Cathy Horyn, focusing on her major new collaboration — designing for Manolo Blahnik. The Parker-Manolo collaboration will feature “feminine shapes” and “unusual color combinations,” writes Horyn.
Parker, who approached Manolo with the idea for the line, has previous design experience, which was probably a selling point for the company. She served as “president and chief creative officer” of Halston Heritage back in 2010 and 2011, though she reveals that the failed partnership wasn’t exactly fruitful. At all. “I really did work for free,” she told Harper’s. Celebs like Sean Avery, Lady Gaga, and Kanye have all dabbled in free internships for exposure to the biz, but Parker had an important title at a major brand. Considering the enduring SATC fascination, the collection will probably sell pretty fast.

L’Wren Scott Joins Banana Republic For The Holidays
10 Jul(NEW YORK) L’Wren Scott is taking on her very first global collaboration with retail giant Banana Republic, meaning her feminine designs will finally be accessible to a larger audience. The retailer seems keen on partnering up with brands that are new to the collaboration scene, as they previously did with Issa London.
The Banana Republic L’Wren Scott Collection will launch during the Holiday season of this year, offering a capsule collection of 50 different styles. The assortment of accessories and apparel will feature three original prints that were designed exclusively for the collaboration. But what will the designs look like? All are holiday party worthy, such as sequined party dresses, cardigans embellished with jewels, plus tailored jeans and pencil skirts. Small details like faux fur, silk accents, and lacy fabrics make the collection pop and stay true to Scott’s designs that are often seen on the red carpet. Take, for example, a handbag covered in a colorful lip print that features a removable chain which can be repurposed into a bracelet or a necklace.
The collection, which drops on December 5, will range from $39.50 for accessories to $198 for those perfect party dresses. This timeless collection will transition well from day to night, and seeing as it was created on the foundation of Scott’s philosophy of timeless style, expect to hold onto these silhouettes season after season.
